Dessert for breakfast? eh, yes please!
Serves 2|Takes 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
For the porridge:
100g Flahavan’s Oats
300ml whole milk
180ml water
For the toppings:
150g Morello cherries (tinned or jarred, plus 100ml of liquid from the tin or jar)
Star anise x 1
2 tbsp maple syrup
40g dark chocolate chips
METHOD:
For the porridge:
Add all the ingredients into a medium saucepan and bring to a low simmer on medium-high heat.
Turn the heat to low, and simmer for around 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats have softened and thickened.
For the toppings:
Place the Morello cherries and cherry liquor, Star anise and maple syrup in a small sauce pan, bring to simmering point and simmer for 3-5 minutes until the cherries have broken down a bit and the liquor is reduced slightly.
Remove the Star anise before spooning the cherry compote on top of the hot porridge and topping with the dark chocolate chips
